Monday 1 May 2017

Last week in April,2017.

This week at Reddish Vale, Pepe and I have seen plenty of new baby ducks, Friday after a visit to Etherow where we saw these new Baby coots only hatched out the day before

Proud Mum.

Blue Bells out everywhere.

Mandarin looking for a mate possibly thinking who's that handsome guy in the water!.

One lonely Grebe at Etherow.

Only one cormorant today.

When I said build a nice nest for us and I'll think about it, I meant somewhere quiet!
If you think I'm going to sit on a nest next to the footpath, think again Fred!

Then it was off to the "Windmill" to meet friends, Bob and Joyce for a nice carvery and a chat!.
Afterwards they went home and as it was still only early and sunny Pepe and I went to Reddish Vale
with the Camera to see if the Great Crested Grebes had had any babies yet!.
They were still on the nest but a lady with a camera the size of a dustbin had climbed over the fence and took some pictures and told me there was one baby and three eggs!.

the baby coots on the small lake were doing well and swimming about!.

Eat your greens.

On the TV in the info centre, the blue Tits were busy getting their nest ready for their eggs.

This is the art work on the side of the toilets.

Nothing as patience as a heron, must have stayed like this for half an hour!
The Muscovy duck there seems quite interested in what the Heron is up to.

And all Pepe is interested in is the dog biscuit he gets at the Centre.

It was his birthday today as well, he's getting a old man now at eight!.

Sunday saw us back to Reddish Vale and we were in luck as the Grebes had another chick!, there they were two chicks riding on their Mum's back, the only think was it was so windy that they kept getting blown off and had to keep scrambling back on her back. At one stage the parents had one each on their backs!

Also on the big lake were these large terrapins sunning themselves on the bank.

Mr Heron still doing his static thing.

Then to top the day off there was a Kestrel in a nest box under the viaduct arches!.

Made my day!.

On the way back to the car called into the Centre and the nest was full with nine eggs in it, the parents were in and out keeping  them warm, when they are hatched out that's when their work will really start with nine chicks to keep fed!
.

So it was off to John's for Sunday dinner, and a warm welcome from Jessie and Max the two Cockerpoo's!

Jessie the Softie.

A fish eye attachment on my Iphone, must look out for one of these!.

So a good weekend and the weather not too bad which I'm glad about for the workers who only get the weekends to get out and about!.

At home , thought this pot was a bit drab so gave it a bit of Bling with a coat of spray paint (Plasticote).

Wire brushed and sprayed!.
