Day at the lake,27.3.2017.

It was a beautiful sunny day at the lake today, plenty of visitors!.

One of our members Eric from the Model Boat Club turned up with this nice Scratchbuilt schooner.

Also a Scratchbuilt tug he had built a few years earlier!

So after a chat and the usual photo take it was off home.

On the way home was going to call at "The Windmill" for dinner but then realised it would be too hot in the car to leave Pepe!, so it was carry on to McDonalds and sit in the park car park opposite with the doors open whilst we had dinner.
Then it was home and out to the garden with the boat, masking tape and paper to prepare for spraying with the nice warm sunny weather.

It was the Green on the hull today, if you have been following the build you will remember I sprayed the bottom of the hull Black a few weeks ago!

Then it was on to the Superstructure, rear cabin!, undercoating.

Getting carried away now,

You might be wondering what I'm using to stand the items on?, I've found that the wheely bin is ideal! a plastic cover on and off you go!, you can get all round and even move it about whilst your at it.

Bob the Builder has fitted the smoke unit into the larger of the two chimney's he's made me, and what a beautiful job he's made of them, as usual I might add.

And with those famous Blue Peter words, Here is one he made earlier and I finished painting!.

A friend asked me at the lake what I used to paint with other than spray paint?,
Here are a couple of garden ornaments I did a few years ago, and they are still looking alright aren't they, all done in acrylic paints bought from a craft shop., then sprayed with acrylic Lacquer to seal it. You can get that in Matt, Satin and Gloss!.
.
My Green Goddess from my days in the Auxiliary Fire Service.

and I just had to have this one didn't I.

Fred had a stereo system in his car,
His wife in the front and her mother in the back!

Do you know why Turtle Wax is so expensive?.
Because Turtles have really tiny ears.

Charlie's wife tried a mud pack to make herself more attractive,
It worked for a while, then it fell off!.

Today at Reddish Vale, 26.3.2017.

The Vale
.

Nice with a bit of sun on your back isn't it Ethel, Don't be getting any idea's Fred!.

The Great Crested Grebes are getting their nest sorted

Don't worry about the black one eating all the seed Ethel, he only eats fish!

Look at the size of his webbed feet!.

Mr Heron.

Spotted this Moorhen high up in a tree!.

You can just make out the wild Ring Necked Parakeet here.

Last but not least are these beautiful Chimneys for my Narra Boats, that my Mate the Master Design engineer has made me!
There will be a smoke unit in them when they are fitted to the boat.
With the weather getting warmer I will soon be Abell to start spraying the Amelia Rose and fit these beautiful Chimneys, in the meantime I will paint them, but show the Brass bands round their tops

Yesterday I saw a guy trying to chat up a Cheetah!.

Cats took thousands of years to domesticate humans!.

Do radioactive cats have 18 half lives?.

Spring in the North West, 2017.

This weekend went to Reddish Vale Country Park, there was a lot of excitement in the Information centre as there had been sightings of wild Green Parakeets in the park.
I found out where they were but even with my big zoom camera couldn't manage to get a picture as they were too high up in the tree and the sun wasn't in a favourable position.
Still Bob the Abell my mate has come up with an item on the net so

A nice little Robin feeding.

Then at John's for dinner there was this cheeky Squirrel on his lawn,
His lawn he said "Kiss my Butt. its mine!.

Did you hear of the mean dad who bought his six children a Dachshund, so that they could have a pet they could all pet at once!.

Fred bought a puppy going cheap at the pet shop.
It cost him a fortune because it did bird impressions!.

Man to friend, "I've really had it with my dog, he'll chase anyone on a bike!.
Friend, "What are you going to do, Have him put down?".
Man "NO I think I'll just take his bike off him!.

Tuesday 7 March 2017

Has spring arrived!, March 2017.

The lake at Etherow was quite full today with the yachtsmen from the Model Boat Club, there were a few fishermen  out too!, why they park in the front row I don't know and then disappear for the rest of the day. The folk that only come to sit in their cars, have a buttie and perhaps are not able to walk far don't get the chance to park and watch the view at the front, some people are so inconsiderate aren't they!.
The Great Wall just outside the park it seems is not being taken down, but only being pointed!. Doesn't look very good at the moment, still its early days and perhaps the chaps will get better as they progress.

On the way home stopped off at Aldi and got a big bag of stuff for next to nowt!, no wonder the bigger supermarkets aren't doing very well!.
Then it was a call at McDonalds for lunch and felt a bit guilty afterwards, so it as out with Pepe and off for another walk round Debdale Park to walk some of our dinner off.
Hence the Question "Has Spring arrived".
Crocus on the banking looking towards Hyde Road

More Crocus in the park!.

Beautiful sunny day, but still need the big coat on, or is that my age showing though I wonder!.

Been going to the cinema quite a bit lately, seen some good films too ie
The Great Wall,
Patriots Day,
 Hidden Figures
To name a few,
Like it at Cineworld as the time early in the day suits us, the sound is great and afterwards my mate Dave and I go to McDonalds for lunch, then I do a bit of shopping on the way home, good day.
Must get an Unlimited ticket though, which makes it a lot cheaper if you are going regularly, gives you money off as well at the restaurants locally.

Have you read any of Matthew Reilly's books?, an Australian writer of Action adventure books, bags of action from page one!.
I'm an avid reader and he is one of my favourite authors, another is Lee Child with his Jack Reacher character, though not too keen on his choice of film star to portrait him though, Tom Cruise??,  still if you buy the film rights you can have who you want can't you, even yourself!, he did a good job though, still not the size of Reacher in the books!.
..............................................................................

"Mummy Mummy! Daddy's on fire" "Quick grab a burger and a frying pan"

"Mummy Mummy!, can I wear a bra now I'm 16?"
"Shut up Albert"

"Mummy Mummy I don't want to see Niagara Falls"
"Shut up and get back in the barrel"
.............................................................................
That's it for today Folks.

Monday 6 March 2017

Back again, March 2017

Been to the Ellesmere Model Boat show this past weekend, 4th/5th March.
I went with Pal Bob the Abell in his car. on the Saturday, I think he thinks I drive too fast, prob-abelly do in the new car!.
This is the place we went to, good for a visit even when its not the Model Boat show.

The large white thing behind the building is a ship going down the River Mersey!

One of the model warships had a full military band coming up on the plane lift playing "Life on the ocean waves" which was quite a novelty.

Another of my favourites on the day was this Narra Boat, same size as my present build project

There was even a few trucks on display, here a nice "Eddie Stobart", fancied making one of these models but the price is a bit too rich for me, I'm still waiting for "Velda's name to appear on a truck, waiting time for a name has gone for Two to Four years!.

With my interest in Canal boats found these exhibits

As you can see on this write up, the canal children had one plus in their lives, fresh air, rather than the kids in the smoky towns!

Spot "Duckie"

This chap said "All these beautiful model boats and you are going on about a duck!, I didn't enlighten him that my AKA was "Duckie" and that I had a better one at home, I don't like to see grown men cry!.

It is a big Quacker though isn't it.

A right rogues gallery hey!, two on the left are friends from Colwyn Bay MBC, one on the right is Dave from our club at Etherow MBC, and the one in the hat seems to have something missing?, and no Pepe isn't in the trolley, he was spending the day with his Auntie Joyce,, Bob's Wife.

Good friend Bob the Builder!.
Beautiful sunny day, the sun shines on the righteous they say don't they, got everything on my shopping list which was also a bonus!.

Wake up at the back there nearly finished now!

So endeth the lesson.
AMEN.

If you want to see more of the Boat show  click on the links on the right hand side, Parts 1.2.3., full coverage this year!
................................................................................................
What's he doing with his Boat build I heard you saying?.
Have got the servo for the rudder all ready to fix in the boat.
Only the spray painting to do now but waiting for a bit warmer weather!.

.............................................................................................................
Went to see the film "The Great Wall" last week and low and behold they are starting to rebuild the wall outside Etherow Country Park where we go, thought this picture was about right.
One working and two watching him

Bob is wondering if they find anything when they take the wall down, but I think the only thing there is us Old Fossils.

What's it for now folks.
