Tuesday 14 February 2017

This weeks pictures from Reddish Vale. 11th Feb 2017.

Was a cold but sunny day at Reddish Vale this week.
Forecast was for heavy snow in Oldham so cried off going to John's, its not the going its the returning home later in the day!.
Had a run to the Vale and all the wildfowl were glad to see us as there wasn't too many people there with food.
Then we had an invite from good friends Bob & Joyce to have dinner with them so with Pepe nearly wagging his tail off we had a nice afternoon there chatting and putting the world to rights, checking out Bob's progress on his latest project and arranging our visit to the Ellesmere Model Boat show on the first weekend in March!.

Tufted duck

Cormorant drying out

That's a Little Grebe behind the Coot, that's the name of the Grebe rather than its a baby one!, quite shy and always at the far end of the lake.

Great Crested Grebes

The family of swans are doing well and the adults don't seem too bothered about seeing off the young ones, perhaps that's because its a large lake and plenty of food for all.

Little Gull.

Spotted this Kingfisher in the trees but my Zoom didn't zoom enough so sorry folks perhaps a better picture next time!.

The new (to me) car is running well and its a joy to drive, one of the best cars I had.
I even got a £70 rebate back from the DVLA this week, its the new system where the road tax doesn't transfer with the car, you get confirmation that the old one is off your name and you are no longer listed as its owner, and you get a cheque for any time left (full months only)from the old car.

Not been to the Shire Horse centre yet with the inclement weather but as soon as it brightens up I will be going and taking the camera with me for some photos for you.

Saturday 4 February 2017

Just like spring.Feb 2017.

Just like spring, but I'm not fooled!, I always think February and March are the worse months!.
Still it was a beautiful day out today, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and the company at the lake was good.
Plenty of people out feeding the ducks & geese and as you can see loads of gulls

This is a snassy outfit isnt it, think it was just to keep its pom poms clean with all the mud about from the rain last night

A nice pair of tufted ducks enjoying the sun shine, the one with the white on its side is the male.

What also made it a nice day out in the sun, was the fact I've changed my car, Oh No not again I hear you saying, but the gold one was too big for my needs really, not the driving it, but the size for my needs, didn't need a 7 seater but it was an impulse buy and taken a bit more into consideration this time!.

Its a Vauxhall Meriva SE Turbo, no that's not a doggy number plate, can do without someone at the other end of the country cloning mine and me getting someone else's fines!.

Reading the reviews on the internet about the Electronic handbrake on these type of vehicles I was a bit concerned and asked the garage owner about it, and also the turbo!.
"Get in" he said and took me round the block, frightened the life out of me, but you always feel like that when your a driver and someone else is driving don't you?.
Bottom line is went out this morning and after his instructions had no trouble at all.
Another plus is, Pepe seems to like it as well.

Lovely car and lovely day out.
Must have a trip out to the Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre next week for a nice long run , plus one of their Mares are due to give birth on the 11th of this month!.

I don't think you will be disappointed.

What has four legs and flies
A dead horse!

I bet on a great horse yesterday,
it took six horses to beat him!.

Custer's last words at the Little Big Horn;
"I'll never understand these Indians, a few minutes ago they were singing and dancing"!

Bye for now folk!.
