Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home Show.

On Sunday I took Pepe for his walkie's in Debdale whilst Velda was having a cat nap, oops shouldn't mention cats in the same breath as Pepe should I.

It was the annual Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home Fun Day and it was well attended with all sorts of stalls and events going on.
As I couldn't stay long I missed the dogs on show, and didn't have a chance to enter Pepe into any of the categories there, but he would have missed the puppy event anyway as he's now 2 years old, that's the beauty of Chihuahua's though, they stay small and manageabell, One word from me and he does as he likes !

Took this video and if its a bit jumpy its because I have to take it one handed with the other hand holding the lead with Pepe jumping about on the end of it.

No change with Velda at the moment, its just a case of keeping her comfortabell, her medication to time and tempting her with my cuisine, I did study cooking in the field, thanks to the M O D  and even though it was 55 years ago its still better than some of the food in the NHS at the moment, Thank you Mrs Baxter and Mr Heinz.
I don't think its the food so much as the way its heated and served up in hospital! baked potato shouldn't mean baked onto the plate should it?.

Velda at Home

Firstly, thank you for all the messages of support over the past few weeks, much appreciated by both off us.

Update!

We are doing all right, now Velda is getting her medication to time she is a lot better pain wise, she has not had to have any morphine during the day whilst at home,( this happened all to often in hospital) which must highlight the fact that she wasn't given her pain killers too time in hospital, a sad state of affairs really when you think of it.
She still wakes me up at about 3-00am for some morphine, which is understandable as the tablets four times a day during the day will have worn off in the night.

Had a letter from the Christie to state that the GP had ordered an appointment for 4th August, how that works I don't know, we are supposed to be waiting for the results of the Teams meeting on Wednesday so it might superceed this appointment, this happened before and the hospital just scrap the appointment, talk about the left hand not knowing what the right ones doing.

Got another lot of medication from the GP and picked up yesterday, don't want to even think of that running out hey!.
Very nice district nurse coming round to see Velda has everything she needs, so that's good.
Well that's all for now folks you know as much as we do at the moment, will have to see what Wednesday brings.

Taking Pepe over to Debdale park for his walkie's! later and he will enjoy that as its the Manchester Dogs Home Annual Show to-day with all the stalls and free goodies, that's his best bit.

Thanks again for the messages and cards !!

Me Mum's home!

After a biopsy yesterday at St Mary's and the drain taken out it was all systems go for home to-day, so after a final check up, tablets and instructions it was a glad fair well to Central Manchester University Hospitals and their bad food for a while, must say the staff are mostly very nice though!
This is a home visit to wait for the results of the biopsy which takes about 7-14 days and then its a letter to go back to either St Mary's or Christie's!  Oop's  perhaps shouldn't have mentioned the bad food hey.

Me Mum's home!!

All stops for weekend

As in all the weekends Velda has been in hospital its all stop until Monday, still its better being there with pain management,  Some patients go home for weekends but Velda isn't that fortunate, and doesn't want to with a drain in anyway.
I went into the hospital last night though the Eye Hospital entrance and this is the hall where the outpatients come into first.
Touch this for partially sighted patients

And this is the lift shaft similar to the St Mary's one, but in the theme of the eye hospital, you would have to have bad eyesight not to be able to read this wouldn't you, still it makes a nice view point.

And last of all the ahhh factor

Where's Mum??

Thats all folk's

No change

There is no modelling being done at the moment folks, its down to no time and little inclination, but you will understand I'm sure.
There's no change in Velda's condition at the moment, still more tests and there is talk of a biopsy on Monday afternoon, put back from Saturday!
Velda has got a drain in at the moment, draining the fluid from the cavity round her stomach and this is the reason for the delay in performing the biopsy I'm told.
Hear over the last few days about 3 deaths at Stepping Hill hospital in Stockport and its been said on the news that its down to someone infecting people's saline drips with insulin, you'd think people are having it rough enough without someone evil enough to do this kind of thing. Its a pity that this country don't do the same as in some states of the US and give this person a lethal injection so they known what it feels like!

That's all folks

St Mary's hospital

As I said earlier Velda is now on the right ward for her condition which seems to have been narrowed down to a gynaecology case!, it takes time to get to the solution after all the tests and scans which after all being negative, seems a good sign!.
I have over the past weeks been in and out though the A&E department to the wards at the MRI back way and when I came out of St Mary's front entrance on Monday evening, I was amazed to look back and see the new buildings there! In my confused state I thought I'd talked into a scene of a Si/Fi film.
The last time I was there I took my Ambulance into Nelson Street, old Victorian type buildings, the eye hospital was a bear garden when I had my cataracts done!
For my relatives in  OZ who were in nursing as well before emigrating this is the state of hospitals in the UK, Manchester anyway!

This is the side of the lift shaft.
This whole area is now called Central Manchester University Hospitals.

I'm not a great lover of art, especially pigeons on a stick at £64,000 a throw, what a waste of money, but anyone walking into the entrance of St Mary's reception couldn't help being uplifted by the sight of this bright, clean and professional looking area, I know I was! The wards are airy, clean and bright and the staff are wonderful, and introduced themselves to Velda and made her feel a lot better for the first time since she went in to hospital.

Even the parish priest was a welcome visitor for short sighted Mrs Flannigan " But that wasn't the priest " said her daughter after the man had left, "That was the doctor.
"Oh was it?," she exclaimed with relief, I thought Father O'Reilley was getting rather familiar!.
Boom Boom!

Velda moved again!

At last Velda has been moved to the right ward and it would seem the right hospital!. St Mary's.
Yesterday after another weekend of inactivity on the ward , I was given some advise by a nursing staff member that if I spoke to the people at PALS which stands for Patients advice and liaison service they might be able to help, so I left velda's bedside early yesterday afternoon and went to see the people at Pals!
They listened to my concerns and said they would look into it, and lo and behold when I got back to the hospital  at evening visiting time we were told Velda would be moving as soon as the porter came with a wheelchair !, Thank you Pals whether it was you or my continual complains I don't know but I feel better now she is in the right ward with the right doctors on the case.

I don't blame the hospital , its the bed situation, being put on a ward somewhere and the right doctors for your complaint being somewhere else!, A touch of out of sight out of mind perhaps!.

Julie Andrews Turns 69, this is hysterical !!

To commemorate her birthday , actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at  Manhattan 's Radio  City Music Hall. One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things' from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'. Here are the lyrics she used:

(Sing It!) If you sing it, its especially hysterical!!!

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
 When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
 When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

> >>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>
Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd
that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.
Please share Ms. Andrews' clever wit and humor with others who would appreciate it

Velda moved

At last Velda has been moved to another ward, but still its another surgical ward though a ward thats not a transit ward as before.  Still no beds on the Medical wards so its still a case of being visited by the Medical doctors on a surgical ward whilst more tests are carried out, more tests than at the LCCC at Old Trafford!.
We are still hopeful that the outcome will be alright!

That's all for the moment folks

Velda still in hospital!

I can't believe its been a week since I last blogged, still I do have a lot on my mind at the moment , so please forgive me for the absence of news.
Velda after numerous tests, has been transferred ON PAPER to the Acute Medical ward, I'm told as soon as a bed becomes availabel they will move her.
I expressed my concern that I hoped it wouldn't be a case of   "out of sight out of mind" and was assured that wouldn't be the case, in fact there have been more doctors to see her since her Paper transfer than before!
It  is still a case of waiting for test results to come though, but luckily the ones though have been good so that's the reason for the transfer to Medical ward, (eventually).
Not been in the mood for modelling lately but the other day I was walking Pepe and he stopped and picked something up, I was just ready to stamp on his neck for him to drop it (Only kidding, put that phone to the RSPCA down) when I saw what it was

One of those wall plugs for cavity walls!

This scratch building must be rubbing off on Pepe, because I'd been looking for something to make a TV aerial for the boat and there it was!
Shaved off some of the lugs, cut it down a bit and here is the finished thing

Bit of filler round the bottom and a lick of paint to finish off,

Whilst in the scrap box, found a nice little handle for the tiller arm, only needs painting and that's another job done, just need a tiller arm brass ornament now where the tiller arm splits for storage when not on use.
Keep looking Pepe!

The smart husband thinks twice before saying nothing.

Every married man knows that the most perfect husband in the world belongs to the woman next door!

The first time Ethel saw her husband he was outside a junk shop picking his teeth.
Then he went in and bought them.

Fred described the bump on his head as a glancing blow.
"The wife caught me glancing at a blonde" he said.
